![]() ![]() Last year, Croteam and indie game publisher Devolver released The First and Second Encounter, Serious Sam 3, and a new campaign called The Last Hopein VR. The latter received some favourable, but relatively underwhelming reviews (the game has a 72 rating on Metacritic) which put the series to bed until 2017. The first two games were remade in 20 respectively before Serious Sam 3: BFE dropped in 2011. A sequel, The Second Encounter, arrived a year later followed by the PC and Xbox exclusive Serious Sam 2 in 2005. Five years later, in 2021, we still don't have any announcement from Croteam. The camera then pans back to reveal a horde of gruesome enemies and the message: See you at E3 2018.Ĭroteam released the first Serious Sam game in 2001. Alen Ladavac confirmed at the Nordic Stage in 2016, that The Talos Principle 2 was a project: 'Talos Principle 2 is going to happen' At that time, Croteam was already working on Serious Sam 4. Of course, he's soon attacked by a "headless kamikaze," which Sam dispatches with a casual shotgun blast. Now, though, we have a teaser trailer for Serious Sam 4: Planet Badass, which shows the titular hero driving through the (French? Italian?) countryside on a classic motorcycle. Just watch out for the optional Gold puzzles, because they will melt your brain. You can finish the game without solving every puzzle, but those seeking true mastery can attempt to conquer them all. Instead, developer Croteam released The Talos Principle, a critically acclaimed puzzler about androids and AI. The Talos Principle 2 will feel familiar but fresh at the same time. A fresh instalment of the bombastic shooter franchise was teased in 2014 but never came to fruition. The Talos Principle is due later this year on PS4, PC, Mac and Linux. There's a new Serious Sam game on the horizon. "We've had to wait 13 long years to see what Croteam can do when they're not looking down the barrel of a gun, and I'm excited to be helping them deliver that," he added. Jubert noted that the game is being developed in Croteam's proprietary Serious engine and will be rich in secrets. "We're keeping our cards close to our chest on this one, but you could say Philip K Dick's oeuvre is a close match for our general motif," said Jubert on the PlayStation Blog." We hope there's loads here to dig into and piece together if you're so minded, but equally if you're just here for the puzzles it won't get in your way." An omniscient voice will guide you, but who this is and why you're doing what you're doing is a mystery. It gets very philosophical in the end, but in an engaging way. By Liam Dawe - 5 January 2018 at 9:45 am UTC Views: 24,427. ![]() The Talos Principle is everything that I once hoped Portal 3 would be. The Talos Principle going Fusion, Croteam dropping OpenGL & Serious Sam 4 still coming. ![]() Unlike Serious Sam, The Talos Principle is a narrative-based experience and Croteam has hired some top-notch writers to pen the title with Tom Jubert (of TFL, The Swapper, Penumbra and Driver: San Francisco fame) and Jonas Kyratzes (The Book of Living Magic, The Sea Will Claim Everything) leading the way.Īs for what The Talos Principle is actually about, it puts players in the role of a robot exploring a digital recreation of an ancient world. Wow, Ive been looking forward to replay the Talos Principle and try the DLC on my rusty laptop on the worst performance settings, but I held off in the off-chance it would be released on the Switch someday. Ok, one surprise at a time: Serious Sam 4 is going to have plot enough to merit the presence of writers, scribbling down words to be read out by voice actors, recorded and then added as files to. Just as Valve went from making a bunch of shooters to the combat-devoid Portal, Serious Sam developer Croteam is making a radical departure with its next project: a first-person puzzler called The Talos Principle. ![]()
